88-98 door latch
Where can I find one, I don't want a used one off ebay... I've looked online and called local parts houses with no luck... I'm pretty sure my problem is the inside door handle which I think Autozone has them or can order them. I noticed the striker is worn as well as the latch and want to replace everything..
Any suggestions on where to look would be very much appreciated |

Re: 88-98 door latch
If your striker has lots of wear on it you most likely need the latch. All of that stems from the pins and bushings being worn and the door had dropped down making the door harder to shut than normal and eventually wearing the latch and striker and also that is what causes the inside handles to get more abuse and the rods going to them bend from the stress causing the handles to break. All of that from the little brass bushing. I have had trucks traded in to me that were so bad the owners had to hold the doors shut or hold them together with bungee cords when they would go around corners the doors would fly open. This is a site on a four year old truck in my country the farmers may jump in and out a lot in a field in a short distance checking crops and that made it all worse. The chevy dealer sent the bushing jobs to my shop cause they didn't want to or couldn't for the longest do them. Then I own several hundred more of those as wreck that I built on top of the one I worked on from 88 on up. Re: 88-98 door latch
A couple things to try before throwing parts at it. Spray the heck out of the latch with oil first in could be just dry or gummed up. Then if your striker is worn something is usually out of adjustment. Remove the striker pin and close the door, does it still line up without the striker? If not get the door fitting before replacing parts.

Re: 88-98 door latch
I hear you on the throwing parts at it, but after 17 years I think a freshening up is in order. I'm doing both doors ( pins, latch, striker and inside handles ) and then I'm going to replace the seals next.. would be like a new truck. I have been trying to put a new stereo in there for years now and while I have the panels removed I will install my speakers. Now I will have no reason not to finish the stereo

Re: 88-98 door latch
Dealer is ALWAYS SPENSIVE..... I ordered from LMC a few days ago, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.
