Re: 64 Fleetside needs some TLC

There are alot of these trucks in the area you are in. I would look for a complete rear in good shape. You may want to consider a 3.73. They are not that much taller of a gear and finding one ready to bolt in with that gear will be the most common ones out there.

Wow cool build/story I was just thinking about how I had a whole front clip I would have sent you for shipping if my one of my ex friends didn't get on drugs and scrap it along with a whole shed full of stuff for my model a a couple months ago. I hope you bought them guys some beer at least. Damn cool truck

who ever set the gear wipe should NEVER pick up a wrench .... from what i can see the gear wipe looks good (is that just light flash on the rear teeth? or a chip?) the shims go between the bearings/cone and the carrier NOT between the race/cup and the housing if the carrier is still tight "preload" from side to side pull it out and mic the shims each side DO NOT mix them up get the same amount of shims (the right ID/OD and put that same amount under the bearing cones and put it back together if your not up to that then find a good rear end shop and show them your pics im sure they could use a good laugh and see what they think and the cost
