Help trying to mount buckets in a '67

Hey guys,
I have finally got 1969 c10 buckets after a long search but now the problem is mounting them for two reasons:

1. I don't have a console for spacing

2. 67 didn't originally come with buckets (see below)

I have read a ton of other threads about doing the conversion and most of these have seemed straight forward by looking for factory dimples in the floor and that's where the seats and console would mount. 1967/8 don't have this because it was never an option.

So my two hopes on how to install these are either get the exact measurements of a centre console so I can make a wood box for spacing, and/or somehow get a template I can lay over my floor. What do you guys think?

Is this one of the threads you've seen? It's the best I've come across.

I have seen that one, doesn't really brake down with the holes need to be, just gives a general idea and refers to the factory dimples again.

Has anyone used any aftermarket/repo of these centre consoles? What are they like?

Forget the dimples not all trucks have them. Use the info in the thread FirstOwner69 posted. Use the outer passenger front hole to line up the passenger side seat square it up mark your holes and drill them out. For the Drivers side use the 1 3/16 dimension given in that thread as well square it up mark the holes and drill them out. I did this on mine and this info is bang on. Then make up some supports for underneath. To get the U shaped brackets I took 1 1/2" square tubing split it down the middle with my plasma cutter, then put it in the mill to smooth it out welded some nuts on it then spot welded it into the truck really wasn't hard at all.

Not sure how I missed the entire second page of that thread but that answers all my questions! Thanks

Re: Help trying to mount buckets in a '67

The easiest /fastest way to correctly mount bucket seats .

1) using tape find the center line (top to bottom ) of your steering wheel

2) measure across the seat width wise and mark the center with tape

3) line up the center of the wheel with the center of the drivers seat mark and drill your mounting holes as needed .drill and install .

4) using the drivers side as a guide measure drill and mount the passengers side .

This procedure works for any type bucket seat install as it positions you directly center of the steering wheel . there is nothing worse than spending time to mount seats only to find out they are too wide and hit the door armrest or are so far off center you aren't comfortable driving the truck ,The drivers seat MUST BE CENTERED TO THE WHEEL .

All factory buckets, including 67/68, use the outer bench seat mounting location. So, that is your best point of orientation. As far as spacing for the console goes, use the outer locations and you'll be fine. Go ahead and get yourself a console so you can mock it up right...not that it won't work out anyway

For 67-68 buddies and the passenger side this is the case. But for 69-72 buckets, the driver side outer hole is 1-3/16" further outboard than the bench seat outer hole.

Always center the bucket seat to the steering wheel and before drilling holes make sure the door closes ,many seats are too wide and will hit the armrest
