Re: 1968 Chevrolet Color Code
Whats the difference between this and the 1968 saddle metallic? They look very similar to me.

"Any idea on this code?" "The very first picture? Is that the 50th Anniversary color? Looks like a updated color?" "Code? " "This Code Is what I am After. Looks GREAT!" Really! The magazine truck in post #1 was determined to be a 2000 BMW color based on the 2006 article about the truck in post #6. It is not the factory color. The paint code as provided by CC69 rat is U67 Ontario Gold in post #22. If you need to cross that to specific brand of paint then look it up, maybe starting at http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.asp...2-Bmw-pg01.jpg or go to your local auto paint store and tell them you need to match 2000 BMW U67 Ontario Gold.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet Color Code
I am not 100% sure this is the color on the 68 in the first post, just trying to help you get close as I am looking for a good Anniversary color too. The original color is nice too, but just maybe a little brighter / richer gold tone would be a one off thing too (since my truck is not an original 50th)
I USED to be into BMW's pretty heavy. Then, I got married... There was a color in 2008 I think it was, called Ontario Gold. Here is a shot of an M3 E90 chassis and you can see a strong similarity vs. the 50th gold color. I really like it. I have only ever seen this M3 and another M6 here locally believe it or not and I really liked it. Beautiful in the sun. Here's a pic from an M6 I found online. Hope this helps. http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=680388 Like I say, I think it's a 2008 color but not entirely sure. The M3 looks like a 2008 to me. Nick might be able to tell us for sure.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet Color Code
I have had zero luck on the 551 code or the ppg 23048 mix. No Dupont cross no martin senour cross.
I can mix martin senour's crossfire and dupont's chromabase at the shop. I did not have any way to mix the U57 in Dupont so I called martin senour and it is a TecBase only mix. Found a 2000 Bmw Arizona gold It is dark but I think I can custom make a color using this base formula. Has anyone had any other luck with a good 50th anniversary code? |

Re: 1968 Chevrolet Color Code
I know this a somewhat dated thread but I'm sitting here overseas and was searching the options on my 68 and looked for the 551 color (as delineated in the sticker in the glovebox). I'm torn now--restore or leave it with "patina"..... they look darn nice restored! Aside from this, trim, mirrors (juniors), 4 speed, C&C(?), V8 and lockouts this is pretty bare bones....

Re: 1968 Chevrolet Color Code
That's the direction I'm leaning, especially with the 4x4 and the apparent rarity of the combo of 4X4, SB and Golden Anniversary. Should be a sharp truck once painted. Nice thing is there are no mods to it at all.
I wonder where one of the posters here got the gold floor mat for theirs--mine is there and will likely clean up but a fresh one would be uber nice. |
