throttle cable problems

I don't have any pictures yet. But I purchased the edelbrock 8036 adaptor bracket, the 8009 stud for my kickdown cable and the 8016 ball end stud for my throttle cable end. Not sure what kind of set up you have without a picture. If you still have you original throttle cable bracket that will work too but you might have to shorten the cable at the foot pedal to take up some slack again I havent fiqured that out yet either. I have seen one guy take his original kick down stud off the quadrajet and turn it down and rethreaded for the edelbrock I thought that was a good fix. Or just go to the auto parts store and they will have a lot of mixed match stuff for you to use. JEGs has alot of stuff for the attach brackets too.

It may not be a great way to do it but i needed to shorten my cable so i unhooked the end at the floor pedal and pulled the cable out, then i cut the body of the cable and ran a length of hose over it and zip tied it together, at the pedal end i cut the cable a bit shorter and used a cable stop that had a set screw, slid it over and cranked it tight. its been working great for the last 20 years.

I have always wondered if there was a better way as in replacing the cable with an aftermarket.
