Letters like original

Hey all. I'm trying to find some letters that have the pegs and speed nuts just like the original chevrolet letters on the front of 67/8 hoods and I've come up very short. I'm not looking for the "chevrolet" letters themselves, but more of other letters. I'm wanting to spell something else on my hood, and I don't think the stick on letters will stay for very long if they got wet and snowed on.

I fully know that if I can find the letters I need that have the pegs, I'll have to center them and drill my own holes as the word I'm attempting to do is one letter short of chevrolet.

So does anyone know where I can find such letters with pegs and speed nuts?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Letters like original

Just looked through a lot of there catalogs. In order to get the letters I need, I'd have to buy multiple sets of different vehicles and only use one or two letters from each set.

Thanks for the site though. I'll be getting one of there catalogs.

Aside from the letters with pegs, I read on a ford forum that stick on letters work really good as most all new vehicles have them. Has anyone here used the stick on letters for anything?

I can get any letter I want at Autozone for $1.42 each that are stick on, but I don't want to spend the money if they fall off a month or so later.

You may want to find a good CNC machinist to fab you up some. I don't think it would cost much and you would have creative input as well? I know a guy in Texas that is pretty good. If you are interested I can get his number for you. The good thing is, he could make it one piece which would help the drilling and mounting? Just a thought?

The CNC is a good idea. Haven't thought of that one yet. I will call around this week about people local to do a CNC for me. If no luck from them, I may just get the number for the guy in Texas.

As for a one peice, depending on how it would be designed out may or may not work. The letters will be going on the hood in close to the same location as the chevrolet letters are. Although a one piece would help a lot with keeping all the letters spaced evenlly for mounting.

Re: Letters like original

Modern vehicles don't use pegs anymore, all trim and emblems are stuck on with either 3M double sided trim tape or something similar.

I added this to my S10 and it was on there 4 years later when I sold it. Sat outside all day, every day.

I replaced all of the rusty capture nuts on my Mustang with 3M tape.

Before:

Clean up:

Tape:

Done:

It's also holding the wheel well trim on because I rolled the fenders, cut the trim down, and the screw holes were no longer there.

Re: Letters like original

Thanks for the photo's and info. As of now, I'm convinced the stick on letters will work for what I want. But I do have other ideas going through my head. If no luck getting them CNC done, I will just do the stick on letters.
