What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
I didn't do a whole lot this weekend to the project truck.. I started to finsh up the gas tank mounting brackets for the 74. Got my sons 79 situated in the back yard and finished cutting up the old plow truck . I made a trailer outta the old bed and chassis and loaded scrap.. so I kinda saved half a square from the Toyota plant
How about you all?

Re: What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
Stepside is looking nice.
I've been working on a 2wd Jimmy. Had it shipped up from the south last winter and got it running correctly. Decided to put some effort into it this winter. Only rust was the pass rocker that was packed with red dirt. Cut that out and have the new section about half way tacked in. Also put new valve cover gaskets on. I never understand why people think RTV is going to work well as a long term valve cover gasket all by itself. Finally, I swapped in a 73-74 grill. Stuff like that keeps me motivated through the mundane stuff. Next is trans pan gasket. Need to get all of the stuff done underneath prior to lowering. |

Re: What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
I put on new valve cover gaskets and a new radiator this weekend. Haven't gotten the truck started up again yet, just trying to get the rats nest of vacuum lines sorted out. Hopefully with a long weekend coming up I'll be able to get some more done and get this truck on the road!

Re: What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
Didn't do much on my truck this weekend, but did do a lot with it. Friday and Saturday were hay hauling days with Lester, and Friday evening I was on the road 5 hours picking up some musical equipment for my church in the truck. Then I discovered my rear main deal has started leaking a lot worse as a result of the big trip...oh well. Guess I know what to fix now!

Re: What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
Today: Push-rod cover gaskets. Valve cover gasket. General engine degreasing.
Despite being a low-mile original truck, my gaskets are petrified. Distributor was also damn near seized in place, though some ATF and Denatured alcohol (along with some heat) popped her right out. Probably have to finagle an oil-pan gasket in there at some point, which I'm not real excited about. |

Re: What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
I degreased & prepped my bed floor spacers then got them painted. After that I scrubbed the front & rear bed floor sections w/simple-green + scotchbrite. Getting everything ready for the new floor....

Im finally geting some motivation back to continue work on my truck.
Got most of the fitting done on my new exhust, still have to fit some hangers and pull pipes over rear axle. Pulled out the old fuel lines and started fitting new ones. Found a crack in my frame under the steering box mount. oh well... itīs comming off anyway

Re: What did you get done 11/23/14 edition
This is good to hear! I dislike a leaky motor. While I get free oil at work, it's the mess I can't stand. When an engine is greasy and grimy, it makes the simplest of jobs a real drag.
