Throw in a couple screw drivers and a pair of pliers and you should be good to go.

Re: Best tool set to carry with you on trips
personally I like the 300 piece set from harbor freight. you'll just need to buy a wrench set cause it lacks there. great set I carry in my tool box all the time.

Funny, I just commented on the thread I started a couple days ago and then saw your thread. I really like the set I posted in this thread, it's perfect for what you describe: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=650553

9/16" box end/ open end combo wrench, 13 & 15 mm socket and ratchet, and 10 mm socket and 10 mm box end/ open end wrench. These are tools I seem to use most in my tool box on my '89 K1500 EC. I learned my lesson the hard way leaving home without a tool kit of some type.

Re: Best tool set to carry with you on trips
I carry a couple screw drivers, pliers,a test light vice grips, a real lug wrench and a AAA+ card. I also found that in the spare bat. tray on the drivers side a set of jumper cables coils up quit nicely
