what to do?

I have a 1971 K series 3/4 ton 4x4 PU, great running, great drivetrain. Frame is fair- but usable. Cab is rough underneath. Love the truck, lot of work to fix the cab. I found a 1968 1/2 ton 2 WD, with a freshly sandblasted frame, very solid cab, no drivetrain . They are asking 3 grand for that one. The dilemma? IS it better to buy the 68 and take what i can from mine off, definitely want to keep as a 4x4, or try to just buy the cab from the 68? Not sure if I can use the axles from the k20, and if i can do I have to weld shackles on the 68 frame to accept the front leafs from the 71?? Looking for some knowledge/advice. Thanks.

Re: what to do?

way too much work IMO to make the 2wd a 4x4. Find a good body and put it on your 4x4 frame

Wink Re: what to do?

Agree much easier to find a cab than swapping. if I'm remembering correctly
2 wheel motor mounts are differant also from a 4by4. The stock ramhorns are differant also.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
