Top Heavy

Any ideas to eliminate the top heavy. Still on factory rallies and gone to 275-70 now with no lift factory height.

Re: Top Heavy

Old pic when first got it. Is there any rear sway bars out there? Was thinking about about a stiffer rear leaf springs

Re: Top Heavy

There are sway bars (front and rear) available. With that lift (4"?) some modification will in order to run them.

I used an Addco bar in the rear and had to install much longer links

Re: Top Heavy

Front and rear sway bars are the ticket. Just put a front on my 70. Nice addition for sure. I have a rear but have not installed it yet. Both are stock.
Front is from a 73-up and you have to do some mods the rear is from a 3/4 or one ton cannot remember. Both bought on this site from members.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...20#post6904520 I cannot find the link to the rear but will keep looking.
Found it-

Re: Top Heavy

How fast do you normally drive? LOL

I hope to get a 4wd truck of our years but I don't like tall trucks. If I could, I'd get a 4wd down to a 2wd stock height. No idea on this is possible.

Re: Top Heavy

I'm usely 75-80 on freeway and 50-55 on snow covered roads. Like the height now on the low.

Re: Top Heavy

You didn't mention if this is a half ton or a three quarter ton.

First thing I'd do, is get rid of any body lift.
The simple stuff is to replace all of the spring pack bushings with poly bushes or at least new OE spec ones, then upgrade all of your shock absorbers with a gas charged variety.

If you are half ton, then I'd look at possibly upgrading the springs.
If you are running 15" wheels, then think about getting larger ones like 16's.

I run a 2" lift on the original springs that have been re arched, 33-12.50 16.5 tires, added a leaf up front, and nothing special off road shocks.
I absolutely love the ride of my suburban, and the words top heavy have never come to mind while driving it.

Re: Top Heavy

Thanks for the info and looking for sway bar and rear springs to see it help. The body lift is gone and front springs replaced. Gas shocks on and is half ton. Just seems rear is not stable. Rims and tires are next, just love my rallies and stellies.
