Replacing rust cab supports
Hey guys,
I'm new to this site. A guy I was getting parts off turned me onto the site. I've been snooping around and so far seen lots of cool stuff. I have a 66 chevy I pulled out of a farmers field this spring. My first truck many many years ago was a 66 also (good memories). I have always liked the style of the 60-66 chevy pickups. I have been plugging away at the truck and was wondering about the best way to replace the cab supports. Do I just keep drilling out the spot welds or should I cut out the floor? Is there a thread that shows this being done? |

Re: Replacing rust cab supports
If you skim through the many build threads here you can see pictures. Welcome aboard. Would like to see some pictures of the truck.

I'll try to get some pictures on here. I have lots on my phone. None in the tablet. I'll keep snooping around.

Re: Replacing rust cab supports
which ones are you going to replace? fronts aren't to bad but might be easier to section out only the bad sections on the rears. sounds like you have the right idea. keep drilling spot welds till it comes loose.

Re: Replacing rust cab supports
Thanks, I have to replace both the front and rear. I have stitched in the inner rocker on the passenger side already and started wondering if I'd jumped the gun.

Re: Replacing rust cab supports
hello as stated front ones aren't to bad. but the aftermarket rears are made for 67-72 and had to do some slicing and dicing to make them work. if I hadn't already bought mine I would have tried to fab my own. good luck!

Re: Replacing rust cab supports
Thanks. I also have already bought new ones to replace the old ones. The old ones are pretty much gone.
