5 lug swap.
So after coming to the conclusion that it's not really realistic for me to lower my c20 keeping it an 8 lug. I've finally come down to what everyone had recommended. The 5 lug swap. So I've done some research and I need to clear some stuff up. My truck is a 1971 c20 with Leafs in the back and a two-piece drive line. I was wondering if I could still use my disk brakes from my c20 and change my lower a arm and spindle.
For the rear, do I just go fine any c10 rear axle and just swap it over? I've never done anything like this so any help tips or tricks would be awesome. |

Re: 5 lug swap.
Lower a-arms, spindles, rotors, & calipers for the front 8-to-five lug swap.
Rear needs to be swapped for a 71-87 leaf spring truck housing (easiest). I believe the leave spring mounting pads are the same for C10's/C20's through 72 but there might be a difference for the 73-87 models.

Re: 5 lug swap.
What part of the brakes were you hoping to re-use? The rotors are 8-lug so they have to be swapped. Spindles are different. The calipers appear to be the same (quick online search) so they can be re-used if they in-fact are the same. Master cylinder & prop valve will work.

Re: 5 lug swap.
That kit the spindles have a 2.5 inch drop so if you want to lower the front use it if not use stock height spindles from a junkyard.
