fuel pump ?

So I have a problem that kinda has me stumped. I recently installed a Mr gasket electric fuel pump 4-7 psi 35 gph in my 79, and it seems like I either have a pin hole in my steel fuel line which is very possible as it is rusty, or the quadrajet carb requires more than 7 psi. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The truck still runs barely but it runs and acts like its starving for fuel and when I shut it of the fuel filter (cheepo clear plastic unit) is dry again then I can bleed the air out and it will run fine til it empties the filter again.

Re: fuel pump ?

do you have a way of actually testing what the new pump is actually pumping at maybe it is defective, I think all you need is like 3.5, PSI

I would take that fuel pump and bring it closer to the engine/carb and have it pull from a jug and pump straight to the carb with a short rubber hose in order to eliminate your fuel lines as being the problem

Re: fuel pump ?

That was my next step just to see as well as getting a cheap fuel pressure gauge.
