Newbie
Hi, my name is Andy and I live in the UK. Some how I have managed to get myself involved in a '64 C10 stepside. I say 64 but having looked around on here I think it may be a 66 going by the side badges.
The truck was brought into this country new and then sold off in 71 where it had the same owner until 99. This owner totally abused her running around the country delivering classic bikes which is fine but also made some very bad bodges on her which I now have to put right. This is going to be an up hill struggle as there aren't too many of them in this country and even fewer in wrecking yards. The body work is the worst of it but I can cope with this. It's finding stuff like the right tail gate, a seat and rims at the right price that is going to take time. This is my first truck as I have been buiding Lead Sleds for many years as well as running a national club for them and writing for one of our national hot rod magazines, so please be gentle with me when I start asking stupid questions. |

Thanks for the warm welcome guys and thanks to Hemmit for the link.
Q. is the panel to the lower edge of the hood where the vents and indecators are available and if so where's best to buy from. Mine is rusted away on the corners and looks complicated to re-build from scratch with all the compound curves. |

Your '66 has lots of potential. I haven't seen any patch panels for the hood but somebody else may have. Is your truck right or left hand drive? GM sometimes did weird(by US standards) things to there exported trucks, I'd love to see more pics.

I don't think GM did too many wierd things to this one but the last owner did, like extend the main power lead to the starter by bolting another cable to it and not bothering to insulate it. I'm suprised the truck survived him! I've since ripped the whole lot out and re-wired her.
He also dropped in an Iveco diesel which is fine given our gas prices, but it sits 15" back from the rad and takes up most of the cab. Still, all fixable stuff. as you say - potential. |
