Another power coupler/sleeve ?
So, on the inside of the coupler there is a snap ring. The snap ring is closer to one side then the other, does the snap ring go towards the tranny or transfer case?

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm |

are there two snap ring grooves inside? as i remember, there are two and they split the difference evenly. might be mistaken though

I think so, the one I am buying off ebay has one snap ring and the one that came off of an 84 only has one. The couplers from my 70 and the 71 I bought did not have a snap ring, though the splines are stripped out.

I was thinking the snap ring probably goes towards the transfer case to keep the sleeve from moving towards the seal maybe?
I also noticed the sleeves from the 70 and 71 are longer (about 5") than the one from the 84 (about 4.5"), but the 70 and 71 have an area with no splines near the end towards the tranny.
