Blower Air Inlet Assembly Gasket or RTV or Nothing.
Hope you can help me. When I removed the blower air inlet assembly off my '74 GMC half ton (non AC truck) I did not find much in the way of a gasket between it and the firewall, and I don't see anything on LMC Truck site for it, nor could I find anything at AutoZone or NAPA.
So should there be a gasket there of some sorts, do I make one out of cork, or do I use RTV? Please advise |

I used seam sealer, though iirc, there wasn't anything on there.
Personally, I wouldn't use silicone on the body panels. Everyplace the PO did use it, it rusted, though it may take years for it to show up.

My 83 had a urethane foam weatherstripping. I used house door dense urethane weatherstripping from Home Depot. I used the sticky side on the box.

I would use what is commonly called "dumb dumb". This has been used by the factory for many years. Here's a link.

That's the stuff that I'd use. Mine was ordered, but didn't show, so seam sealer got used. I did have the urethane that tucsonjwt mentioned, think I used that on my transmission hump.
