47-53 bell housing

hey guys does any know if a newer 3 speed tranny bolt up to a 47-53 truck bell housing? thanx

Truck bellhousing yes car no. I'm thinking that the 47 truck bellhousing had the smaller bolt pattern rather than the bigger rectangular pattern.

This is inside out as it is from the front but you can see the bolt pattern for the trans to bolt to. you have to use bolts and nuts for the bottom two bolts.
It's the bellhousing for a 51 1-1/2 ton truck

I looked up my numbers there for what I believe are 1/2 ton 47-53 Chevy truck gm 3835201 im doing a upgrade on my fleetline ditching the close driveline don't shoot me I know its a truck forum but you guys got such great info

You are correct in that you need the truck bellhousing to put a later manual trans behind your 216.

As I said, I'm not sure on the 47 bellhousing but when I bought my 48 in 1973 it had a 194 Chevy II six in it bolted to a V8 bellhousing that had the stock 48 close drive trans bolted to it.
You are going to need a 168 tooth flywheel ring gear to go with the bellhousing though. I'm not sure what the car flywheel has for ring gear teeth.
