Cover

I'm looking for a car cover (truck cover?) for my '66 long bed. There seems to be a large number of options out there for it, so I'm curious if you guys have any experience you could share.

My truck is stored for normally a month to 6 weeks at a time, while I'm away at school, in a space that is well covered and has one side on it but has the other three sides open. It does rain quite a bit around here too.

Thanks!

Re: Cover

If it was me I would probably not use one if it was exposed to moisture and sand particles. Might do more harm than good. It could possibly trap that stuff instead of letting it get blown/washed away by the next rain storm.

Now that said I keep a real nice California car cover over my Chevelle but she sits in the garage most of the time.

Re: Cover

Carcovers.com has some nice choices. and affordable especially for 3 & 4 season covers. I got one for one of my projects, it sits outside all winter, I make sure not to let too much snow build up on it over the winter, but so far the cover seems pretty bomber.

Re: Cover

Yes, be careful of ones that could trap moisture against the surface. Tarps are a huge no no.
Before I made a space available for my 65 in my pole barn, I kept it in a Costco carport.

Re: Cover

I also keep mine under a Costco carport and just bought a 4-layer cover on ebay (uscarcoverpro) for good measure. Seemed rather thin to be 4-layer but doesn't trap moisture. The jury's still out on this one as I've only had it a few weeks.

Re: Cover

I never thought about one of those carports instead, that might be a better idea. Thanks!

There's even room in them to do a little tinkering on your truck.
