3rd brake light

I have been thinking of hooking up my cargo light as a 3rd brake light. Has anyone done this? It should be as simple as splicing into the wire from the brake light switch I would think. It would only be used as a 3rd brake light. What do you think?

Great Idea. Can you find a red bulb for it? If so I would think that it would be easy to convert. Just run a wire from the brake switch to the light. It's all inside the cab.

You can also get a kit from ECE but it's a little spindy.... There is also an led kit on the market for the 3rd brake/cargo light..

A couple years ago I went to Radio Shack and grabbed some small reb lights and drilled some holes in my cargo light assembly. Now (if I ever mount it to a cab) I'll have white light cargo lamp and a third brake light.

And in the light...
I have yet to actually use it, so i don't know the brightness of it in day light. I am thinking of re-doing it with LED lamps and put in a few more.

i put one in my 69 out of a 94-02 dodge. i put the whole deal in, and it has two cargo lights on the outsides and two brakes in teh middle. i dont need cargo lights so i wired the outside two to be blinkers and then the brake lights. so i have a third brake light that are red lensed and blinkers that are white but light up yellow.
