73 bucket seats vs 69-72
i have some 73 blazer bucket seats, and my original medium green buckets from my 71, and the 71 buckets need recovered, but there not that bad. so what i was wondering is are the 73 buckets the same as my 71 buckets?becasue if they are i want to just leave the originals alone, set them to the side and get the 73 buckets redone in black and maybe if they ever start reproducing the right shade of green i need redo the originals.

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
The brackets are different and the foam is a little different too.The foam can be made to work with 71-72 covers though.

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
I think I have one bucket laying around here somewhere, cant remember if it is the driver or passenger. I think I will dig it out and make an office chair out of it.

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
These are like 75 seats with 72 brackets and covers on them. I did not do the work, so I am not sure what is invloved with the foam work .

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
thats funny, but what mint68 means is he thinks one of MY buckets is HIS, you see, we bought a 73 k5 blazer together, for parts and he likes to give me crap about everything is half his, scince we each paid for half of the vehicle.
he is sadly mistaken though, becasue those are MINE hahaha Last edited by BurnoutNova; 03-02-2008 at 06:50 AM. |

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
Finally got a chance to get the pictures. The one on the left is a 71 blazer passenger seat and the one on the right is a 73-75 I am not certain. The mounting brackets are different.

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
Having personally recovered several 69-72 then trying to use the same cover on a 73 and up, it seems like the seat section is deeper on the older seats so when you attempt to cover the 73+^, you have a little challenge to get the fabric tight. The cover requires the inner U design to be stretched down before the outer edges to get the right affect. Huck

Re: 73 bucket seats vs 69-72
So is there a different span in the mount holes from fron to back ?
I have 73 seats and I believe the holes at the front of that seat work but they come up short at the rear of seat for the tilt mechanism and therfore I had to make a plate to extend the bracket closer to the back of the seat .Not sure if the hole patterns were changed to reflect this change at factory or not |
