LSx to sm465
Hey guys so I picked up a 69 c10 a few weekends ago. Has a 6cylinder in it but it is not hooked up or anything due to the old motor throwing a rod. My plans were to do a 4bt cummins but for the price/work to do it not really wanting to go that route. I already have a newer diesel truck anyways. So the question here is keeping the stock 4 speed to the LS. I know I need the newer truck flywheel, 11/12in pressureplate, ls7 pilot bearing/bushing. The real question is from what Ive seen I wont need a different bell housing? I am aware not all the bolts line up which isnt a big deal. Before anyone says anything I do not want a auto or a t56, I already have a race car so all I want this truck for is to blast around town in. Thanks for any info I appreciate it.

How would a t56 prevent you from "blasting around town", any differently from the 4speed?

I noticed that truck when I picked up my FRS wheels a couple months ago
Go for it! The only thing I remember possibly being an issue is the mechanical clutch linkage...

^Correct just has 20 badges on it not really sure why.
I despise t56's, they cost way to much money and break constantly. Plus they feel terrible also. So yeah I rather spend 4-500 bucks to make the 4 speed work vs 2 grand on a t56. If I was spending that much money to make it a 6 speed id put a nissan 350z trans behind it most likely. |

Nice yeah I know a bunch of people from R/T this used to be dans truck one of the guys that work there! Im going to convert it to hydraulic.

Im not saying it would cost less. I had a z trans on a 1uz lexus v8 and only spent 300 bucks on the trans but all said and done probably cost 1500-2grand to adapt it.

The nv4500 weighs a little less, you get the extra gear as well....tho sometimes getting one for 2wd behind an LS motor isnt the most plentiful option.

Starting in late 93 you could get them in Dodge and GM trucks. The actual Dodge vs GM nv4500's are a bit different in terms of speedo output etc. First place I saw them was medium duty GM stuff like UPS trucks. The designation is MT8 or gm #12346190

Bottom line, on the cheap, use your existing bellhousing, you will be shy 1 bolt, won't hurt a thing,
Then all your clutch linkage, etc. will still be there. You do have to use the LS flywheel, clutch and I believe a LS2 Pilot adapter? |

You also need to get a pulse generator for the vehicle speed sensor.
I think Dakota Digital has something for this, though I eventually just went 4L60E. I think an SBC bell housing will work but I don't know about the I6 pattern. If it's the same as the 90 degree 8 cylinder block pattern, and the starter hump is in the right place, it should work fine.
