Help with disc brake converison questions

Listers,

I'm going to convert my wife's 1954 GMC 100 to discs. I have some decisions to make and wanted some input.

I'm looking at the performance online kits. Any cautions? Good company to deal with? quality stuff?

I was thinking of doing only the fronts, but since it's my wife's truck I wonder if I should do the backs as well. Aside from peace of mind, is there really any advantage? She doesn't haul heavy stuff.

The POL kits use 11 inch Camaro rotors. Will those interfere with the stock 15" wheels? if so, how big do I have to go?

the kits will push the wheels out by 3/8". Do I have to adjust backspacing to compensate?

I have a power brake set up now. Can I use my current MC? Do I have to add a proportioning valve?

Thanks!
Greg

The front kit from Speedway was pretty easy to install. it was also the cheapest I found.

Re: Help with disc brake converison questions

I am running the Speedway kit with an upgraded dual MC and prop valve. Running manual brakes and could not be happier!!

Re: Help with disc brake converison questions

POL has crappy customer service.
Their kit wouldn't assemble onto my spindles. I couldn't figure it out and got the run around for a long time from their customer service. Half a dozen emails, 2 weeks - no resolution. They just wouldn't get back to me with any kind of answer.
Eventually I got it to work and only much later realized the problem - they'd sent brake pads that were piss-poor quality and a bit too thick to fit properly.

F'em.

I'd buy Speedway.
