rear bumper brackets....
finally found an original painted sport bumper for my '66 fleet and it's from a '61.
I know the brackets are different (bumper is coming with brackets and license plate mount) but does anyone know if they can be adapted to fit my truck? thanks

Re: rear bumper brackets....
I know the brackets are year specific 60-62 and 63 -66 like wise with the bumpers. the only rear bumper that covers all years is the stepside rear but the brackets are also 60-62 and 63-66. Its because the torsion bar 60-62 frame is wider, If the patina look is your goal you should be able to modify something to use what you have

is the early bumper just wider than the later models? Anyone running an early one on their late model?

Re: rear bumper brackets....
this was just covered a couple days ago on here. the frame rails are different widths. 60-62 are 42" and the later years are 34" apart

Re: rear bumper brackets....
Being that your frame is narrower than the doaner I would think you can fab some spacers of sort or re-drill your bumper holes to use the wider set up, compared to the front, the back is a little more versatile....
I'd like to see what you come up with....Joe |

Re: rear bumper brackets....
Thanks again, as it seems that the only difference is the location of the bracket holes in the bumper itself (and the brackets) I'm thinking that I can make an adapter bar that bolts to the bumper using the stock bolt holes with studs that go to the location where the '66 bolts would normally be.... whether I can use the early brackets is yet to be seen.. I'm pretty handy with a torch and a welder so just going to have to give it a try.
