Door question?

I posted this in paint and body with no replies. Will doors from a 1978 blazer fit on a 1974 pickup? Found some nice doors but they are on a blazer. Any response is appreciated.

Re: Door question?

Thank you for the information.
Unknown, aren't truck door from 73-80 the same and the 81 to 87 different?
Well now that I know the blazer doors will fit I will pick them up. I have tried to post Picts but it won't let me browse for them. Thanks again!

Re: Door question?

Well I was wrong. Not sure what the difference is but according to LMC, Brothers, and Classic industries the door shells from 73-76 are one part# and from 77-87 are another part#.

Re: Door question?

The 73-76 use a smaller interior panel and window mechanism. No OEM PW or PDL in the 73-76.
The 77+ doors will bolt up and look fine. Just be aware that you can't use your 1974 interior plastic door trim panel.
Pickups and Forward Suburban doors are the same... Blazers are a little funky. Not sure which ones but some have a full side window surround and some don't...

Re: Door question?

73-75 had the full removable top then in 76 they went to the half cab type which used the normal doors.

Re: Door question?

Again, theanks for the replies. Doors will be picked up this week. Oh and they are electric windows and locks. Hopefully the wire harness is still there. Does anybody know if that is hard to trace and remove?

It doesn't have disconnects at the cab connection. PW & PDL harness is actually a sub-harness so it's not wrapped into the cab harness. It can be removed from the doors and cab without destroying the cab harness.
The rubber door-to-cab harness protectors are riveted in place so they can be a challenge to remove without pulling the doors. These are not re-popped AFAIK.

Re: Door question?

Good deal, so the outer dimension of the doors from 73-80 are the same. The difference being the inside panel and trim, in either PDL/PW. The doors I am looking at are complete. Thanks on the info for the wire harness I will take that also and now the old 74 will have a little modern tech! LOL
Great help, Thanks guys.

Re: Door question?

Oh yeah, I did see someone on this forum was selling the wiring harness for about 250 but could not find it again. Seemed a little steep to me.

You get what you pay for. You're paying for modern crosslink polyethylene jacketed wire rather than 40 year old crunchy PVC and new connectors rather than old ones. GM would be way more if they were available.
