Re: copper oil pressure line

I ran mine out of the factory firewall grommet right above the distributor. The wire then coils down toward the engine and then screws into the block. member LocDock sells a new replacement if you are needing to repair yours.

great write up's loc doc.

when i ran my oil line i slid a rubber vac hose over the whole length of the copper tube just too help protect it from damage.

Thanks,

I have seen a few of the lines with the hose on them. I think I have a couple in my parts stash that I removed from trucks over at the salvage yard.

all the oe sbc oil lines i've ever seen all had rubber on the coiled part then a union before entering the firewall.

I should've used a union for ease of engine removal. perhaps i'll ad it at a later date.
one cant deny the one peice soild line though.

I wont use the plastic stuff anymore...its just cheap

Re: copper oil pressure line

This is a pic that I found on this site a couple of years ago. It allegedly is original oil pressure tubing that was being offered for sale on the Parts Board. I used it as a model when I repiped my oil pressure tubing.

Re: copper oil pressure line

Mine looks mostly like the one right above, but mine's a big block so it's in a different spot. I wonder if that's what the connector is for in the middle... universal on the one side and engine-specific on the other perhaps?

Either way, I always wondered about the union and am glad to see it's normal.

Yes, the connector in the middle is the union. The union uses the compression sleeve nuts, the same as both ends of the line.
