Calling all vintage air installers

Is there a way to install the lines through the core support without taking the grill off? 1970 model grill. I had a terrible time putting that thing on and it scares me to death to think about taking it off.

Re: Calling all vintage air installers

None that I know of. When I installed a vintage air on my 70 I had to take it off. Rough job.

Re: Calling all vintage air installers

I hate to say it, but the easiest way to do the Vintage Air install is to remove the grill. I removed the hood, hinges, bumper and grill. Didn't really want to, but found out it made the install easier.

Re: Calling all vintage air installers

Well it took a little massaging of the core support holes, but I managed to get the lines through.

It takes time, but it can be done. No easy way.

Re: Calling all vintage air installers

Here is a pic of the massaging I did. Really just enlarged the inside hole in the core support to 2" and removed just a bit on the outer hole. It was still a wrestling match. Sorry about the pics being sideways, not sure how to fix that.

I'm truly dreading THIS! I'm in the same predicament! Needing to install my vintage air and by the looks of things, I'm going to have to take my grill off too! (sigh)
