70 rearend width?
Hello,
I was hoping someone could give me a definitive measurement, from backing plate face to backing plate face comparing the narrower early 70 rear with the later 70? I know they are about 1.5inch different, but am trying to ID a replacement rearend and don't have the measurements. Thanks, Jeremy |

Measuring backing plate to backing plate is a highly inaccurate way to measure a differential and consequently not the correct way. The early '70 12 bolt will be 62" WMS (Wheel Mounting Surface) to WMS, The late '70 to '87 will measure 63.5" WMS to WMS.
