Wtb Auto Tilt Column Shift Lever

Anyone have a decent used tilt shift lever they can part with. Bought a rebuilt van tilt for my truck and need the truck style lever. I don't need a $40.00 NOS one. Thanks in advance!

Hey Wes,

I passed on two "Buy it now" GM NOS tilt shift levers on Ebay for $38.00 each. Did not know they were that scarce. I just need one that is not rusted that I can polish up fairly good. I have a few van levers - perhaps I can just straighten one out a little.

Ernie - I'm going to be using a B&M floor shift so I would part with mine. I'll have to check the condition and try to get a pic. Might be this weekend.

Hey Brett,

I will take it as long as it is not rusted. Does not have to be perfect.

Thanks,

Ernie

what kind of modificatations did you have to do to the van column to put it in the 72? I have an 80 model van column without the key, it looks pretty much i dentical but im not sure.

You move the neutral safety switch further down the column (gets in the way of the brake pedal) , colapse the steering shaft going to the gearbox (needs to be shortened slightly as the van column has a longer shaft) and you need the wiring connection from a truck column (U shaped). Think that's it. Other than that the columns are the same. Hope this helps you.

Thanks a lot. Do you know how much the shaft needs to be shortened? and what are these worth?

I have never measured the shaft to see what the difference is. The column stays the same you just collapse the two piece shaft that goes from the column to the gearbox. Just collapse it until it fits right. Van columns go for between $50.00- $150.00 depending on the market at the time and the condition of the column. Sometimes you cannot give them away and other times there is a great demand.
