Did Transmission oil coolers come stock on 72 Blazers?

I'm not sure if this was added by the PO or if this came as an option.

Re: Did Transmission oil coolers come stock on 72 Blazers?

Thanks.. I have a brand new engine, rebuilt trans and T-case.. It's not going to be a daily driver sitting in traffic. I'd rather not have it in there because 1. It looks out of place 2. the bracket holding it together looks hideous

I can get away with not using, right?

A transmission cooler is never a bad thing to have - heat kills auto transmissions. But if you don't like it remove it.

Agreed - but I wouldn't even think about removing it.

My old 72 sub an 72 blazer had the kind that had a cooler in the radiator end core, That's what came from the factory.

I wonder if there is way to know if its factory.. If it factory I would have it rebuilt but if it was an aftermarket I would opt to getting a brand new one.

Aftermarket or dealer accessory - if a factory option would be listed on the SPID and I've not yet seen a factory RPO for a tranny cooler or a SPID listing such. Can't hurt to have though!

That aftermarket air to liquid series cooler is not very efficient.

It should always be plumbed after the factory (liquid to liquid) cooler in the radiator as a supplemental cooler.

Shoot a little flat black on it, and it will be nearly invisible.
