Re: Re-painting Cheyenne emblems
Mine had ben painted over by a previous owner. I striped them with paint striper and then cleaned the chrome with really fine steel wool I think it was 0000 than my 12 year old daughter painted them with enamel model paint.

Re: Re-painting Cheyenne emblems
"One shot" striping enamel is what I have seen most people use to restore their emblems, if you search "One Shot striping enamel" you'll find most of the info your looking for. Hope this helps! here's a link
Ben ![]() http://1shot.com/home.html looks like you can buy smaller quantities through them directly, eastwood only has pints or more..... http://www.eastwood.com/paints/pinst...ing-paint.html Last edited by snipescastle2; 01-05-2015 at 09:31 AM. |

Re: Re-painting Cheyenne emblems
To clean them, I use the 0000 grit steelwool on the areas I can reach and then use a soft bristle toothbrush and Barkeeper's Friend (which is a non abrasive cleanser) to get to the areas that you can't reach w/the steelwool.
Sprinkle the cleanser on a dry surface, wet the brush, dip the brush in the dry cleanser and start to scrub the emblem. I've had good results using nail polish on the white/red/black parts of the emblems. Last edited by 73737373; 01-05-2015 at 10:04 AM. Reason: Add more info. |

Re: Re-painting Cheyenne emblems
A large syringe or meat injector can get the paint into the small grooves. Instead of trying to cover the small surface area with a small brush, the syringe will fill the area and level out.

Re: Re-painting Cheyenne emblems
Yes, using a brush is difficult. Lay the emblem flat/level, drip the polish and let it fill the space.
