1985 single cab electrical problems
I realize this should go in electrical section I didn't want it to get over looked.
So I have an 85 single cab it has power lock and windows. I have an electrical short in my horn and others that I'm hopping to solve. The other things that don't work are my cig lighter I'd like to have it to charge my cell. I also have a short in my dome light. I when I went to check my some lights bulb to see if it had burnt out, I noticed that it's connecting wires were melted. Please and thank you to any help that's given. Oh also I know my horns work as I have a wire hooked to a push button and and hooked to another fuse as when I put a fuse in my horn spot it blows |

Re: 1985 single cab electrical problems
Any ideas? Is the horn on the same circuit as the cig or dome light as those don't work?

Check your door switches, they have a bad habit of burning up.

Window switches work locks work. Passenger window always has been slow sense truck was new. Or are you meaning the switch in the door jamb?

Re: 1985 single cab electrical problems
Pretty sure he means the door jamb switch. I think the horn and lighter are on the same fuse because my horn is stuck on and the previous owner pulled the fuse, and my lighter isnt working either. Haven't got around to working on that yet.

Re: 1985 single cab electrical problems
alright well on my truck I needed to Change my battery terminal cables, while doing this I ran a new wire from the battery to my CD player. Well I thought I'd see if my cigar lighter was being grounded out like I thought it was. Well I ran a pig tail from my cigar lighter to the hot wire I ran as soon as I did that they sparked. this was a sigh of relief think that I found part of my problem on my truck. Now sense there's no more light out and I can't work on my truck I'm hoping I found the only problem as to why my horn, cigar, dome and curtassy lights aren't working.
