battery warning light

I have a 2006 Silverado with low miles(51k) and an occasional issue. Twice the battery warning light remained on after the engine started. It has only occurred twice in the last 2000 miles but am curious about what might be causing it. Both times, I turned off the engine and re-started and the light went out. Anyone else have this experience? Since it goes out if I re-start the engine, it makes me think that maybe the voltage regulator(internal) may be malfunctioning intermittently. I appreciate all experience from the board.
