long bed wheel opening vs short bed?

okay i trimmed 11 3/4 inches off the front of my long bed and stitched it together.i set it next to one of my factory short beds and the wheel opening appears to be bigger by like 2 inches. any one ells run in to this? dont know what i want to do now any ideas? think i may leave the back the same length and make a medium bed, i have always wanted to do it any way and now seems to be the time. the truck its going on is different any way, its a 66 shorty chev with a 292 big 6, a 60 gmc hood and grill, sits low, with big jr west coast mirrors and chrome reverse wheels. positive and negative feed back welcome!

The wheel opening is actually different between the SWB and the LWB.

I like it. Someone was on here last week with pics of a "medium" bed. Best of both worlds I guess.

Re: long bed wheel opening vs short bed?

I think the medium bed length looks more proportional than either a long or short bed.

Re: long bed wheel opening vs short bed?

I did this I'm my build. I cut 8 out of the rear and 12 out of the front. The wheel openig is about 3" longer but I ron a 30" tall tire so it looks fine to me.
