CA Black Shoulder Belts on eBay (Not Mine)

There are some restored Black Shoulder Belts on eBay (Not Mine). The seller has two sets: Set 1 & Set 2. The boots are not 100% correct, neither are the mounting plates on the male ends, but very close. A good solution for those trying to add this rare option. I wouldn't hesitate if I didn't have mine.

I think Trevor is right on the being Ford or Mercury. Heres what they should look like.

The retainer boots are off of a 68-70 Cougar or Mustang. That shoots the value way down for us. Nice belts though!

Blazerman's pic shows the correct retainers.

And to my recent discovery, 1972 and up to ? had a horizontal retaining dimple (maybe as early as 1971)...which are similar to those that Blazerman posted having the verticle buckle retaining dimple.

I found those last week and sent seller a message. He openly admits the boots are from another vehicle and the the belts are center belts from GM cars. For the money he is asking they are not worth it imo. You can do a little digging and make your own for cheap.

Agreed. Still, he did re-web and will add date tags to your needs. Still a bit pricey.

Now the my question is this: if someone went through the trouble to reproduce the corvette style boots for the reproduction belts that I've seen offered, wouldn't one think that it'd be worth to make a correct truck style boots?

Some corvette belts have the dimple as well.

on a side note, the bad thing about the reproduction of these is that people with Factory shoulder belts pay a premium for them, and it would make it easy to add to every truck, whereas they wouldn't be a rare setup any more like tach dashes, etc. In collector car markets, I believe there should always be the thrill of the hunt for certain hard to find items. It takes away the fun in putting in the miles, time, blood, and sweat to locate the cool stuff. Trevor

I have a question about the shoulder belts. I bought a set and the belts that mount on the pillar seem too long. I suppose i have them mounted correctly, with the belts witht the male tab on the pillar. I had a 71 el camino back in the day and it was like that. Could i get the length on these fro someone.

Hey, just went out and measured the shoulder belts on my 1970 El Camino. Same as a '71. Belts are approx. 47 1/2 inches.That's from "C" pillar to buckle end. Just a thought for a custom install. These belts use two storage clips, one for the buckle, one for the long loose end. These can be found in any 68-72 El Camino. This would make a nice "custom" install using all G.M. parts. Just a thought!! Mike.
