Hoping to start my project need some advice

I have a Chevy 454 crate motor and a turbo 400 Trans that I plan on having dropped in a 1971 c10. I have most of my ideas thought out as to what I want appearance and function wise with one exception. I want to run 17" American Racing Tourque Thrust wheels. I will drive this truck often but not daily. I don't want it lowered down to the frame but want a lowered ride height that is functional. Should I go Air Ride? If not what size drop do you all recommend?

Other question is custom head unit. As I would like a modern touch screen head unit are there kits for these? Should I just mount it below the dash in some sort of custom mount. I plan on putting in a bench seat with some houndstooth trim to keep a classic look so I don't want to run a console up the middle as it won't have buckets.

Thanks for the advice and for the add to this great forum

Sounds like a perfect ride. I think Early Classic Enterprises 4-6 drop would be perfect with that setup. http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog....ry=Drop%20Kits

Re: Hoping to start my project need some advice

Are you planning on towing/hauling at all?

If yes, I'd do 3 1/2" / 5" ECE kit.

If not, 4 1/2" / 6" kit. Keep the 1" block in your back pocket if you want to go a little lower.

Here is my leaf spring truck. 4 1/2" drop with ECE disc conversion spindles and 2" springs. Rear is a DJM flip that lowered back 7". Wheels are 17x8 (4 1/2" bs)and 17x9 (5" bs) Summit Legends. 235 55 17 and 275 55 17.

Nice. I like the stance a lot. No towing or serious hauling I have the work truck for that.
