Old window glass & new doors

I've got a real pain of a problem. My truck is a '72 C10 and I'm doing a frame off resto/mod. I had to trash the original doors but I saved the glass and rebuilt the vents. The new doors are aftermarket with all new regulators, etc. The problem is the original glass will not roll all the way up. The glass jams about 3/4 of an inch from the top . . . on both doors.

Has anybody got a way out for this problem? Thanks!

Re: Old window glass & new doors

Did you test fit the door on the truck first? from what i have read some of the older repro doors had an issue with the door upper not matching the opening conture so they had to have the weld cut and the upper re shaped a bit, maybe thats the problem you have?

Re: Old window glass & new doors

The pre assembly fit-up with the new door into the old cab was beautiful! Everything lined up great and the gaps were acceptable, so there was no reason to be suspicious of anything before I got to final assembly.

It looks like I need to 'grind' about 1/16 to 1/32 off the vent bar side of the glass. Anybody know if I can grind off the glass?

Re: Old window glass & new doors

I think before i would think about grinding off some glass i'd be looking at the door to see if its possible that maybe the track area in the door wasn't miss located or something. Sorry i cant be any more help than that.

I see you found and posted in the other thread, maybe they can shed some light for you. Good Luck!
