Does anyone know how much a cab weighs?

I've got a 68 cab with a/c, still has dash, doors, gas tank and glass. I want to get a wagon to move it around but need a good idea how much it weighs.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Does anyone know how much a cab weighs?

I am thinking that approx. 650lbs comes to mind when it has most everything in it.
I know (from last Sunday experience) that I can roll a empty cab (only front & rear glass with no doors) from the rockers laying flat on the trailer, to rolled up onto the firewall (firewall flat on trailer) by myself at the carwash.
I think the doors are a pretty heavy part of a cab assembly. I think if you remove the doors it would be easier.

I'd have to say 600+. If you had something rated at 750 you'd be safe. I had mine sitting on 2 medium harbor freight dolly's and it was well supported and rolled like a dream. Beware, it is dramatically nose heavy, even with the gas tank. I tried balancing it with an extra 180 lbs in the rear when hoisting and it still didn't do much.

Re: Does anyone know how much a cab weighs?

I think these guys are right on, we lifted my cab off recently with 5 guys total. I was going to guess 600-700lbs. My cab was exactly as described.

As mentioned above, it's firewall heavy and it was definitely awkward seemed like all of the spots to lift from were sharp, lol.

This outghta do it, 1400 lb capacity. The sides fold down or come all the way off. $150.00 shipped to my friends business.

As long as I don't pitch it off the side. Doh!

That wagon may support the weight, but it will be hard to keep it balanced on that. I would suggest buying 4 casters and making your own cart.

Re: Does anyone know how much a cab weighs?

May I ask why you are looking to a wagon, as opposed to some other more stable source for maneuvering the cab? While that certainly would work, I'd hate to see it take a ride off that thing, causing damage. The two dolly's I used were more than adequate to roll around a garage and over small cracks. I guess I just don't see overspending, as some of that wagon money could go into your truck!

Not enough pavement, need softer tires to move to where I want to go plus I'm moving 2 cabs total. I may put a couple 4x4's across it with some 1/4" lag bolts through the cab mount holes with some downward extensions to ward off catastrophe plus have something to keep the unused cab off the ground.

To answer your question: I'm also busting an old swimming pool and need to move some heavy chunks, trying to kill two birds with one stone.

I appreciate everyone's concerns and comments, you guys are the best.

It all makes sense now! Best of luck with it.
