Do you have the cable all the way on the speedometer? If it is a slip on connecion you have to press pretty hard to get it to go in.
Double check the connection at the tranny too.

If not, your speedometer may be fubar.

pull the cable out of the transmission and see if it has a plastic gear on the end of it, or inside the transmission. The gear will look kind of like this:

======[teeth]=

If you aint got one, that is what you need, I was only able to get one from the gm dealer.

just like green 72 said. the gears are kinda pain in the butt to gett. There color coordinated so when you go to the dealer to get one they'll ask you which color it was. But if you ain't got one to begin with how do you know which color it was???

Pull the cable off the speedo, and pop it out from under the dash so you can see it from the drivers seat while driving.
Go around the block and see if the cable is spinning. If it is spinning, you need a speedo. If it is not spinning, then you need to look at the add on cruise controll (does it work?)

The color coordinates with your tranny (or transfer case if 4x4) and your rear axle ratio. So if you know those then you don't need the color.
