Smile Cab question

In tearing down the front end of my truck I have been cleaning the firewall up with some buffing compound and wax and last night I found what seems to be a part number on the passenger side just under the firewall. I am just wondering if this is original or not? I have not found any info on any numbers being there. Thanks

Re: Cab question

I have seen numbers in that location also, but never checked into what they meant.

Re: Cab question

I suspect a date code for the individual stamping. It resembles the date codes on the front fenders of my '65 GTO.

Or - could be the last few digits of the individual part number but the spacing and different fonts would not suggest that.

By way of conversation I currently have design/release responsibility for the cab and pickup box (underbody) for GM full size trucks, so your question kind of falls into my area.
