CL - H Town (not mine)
Did anyone snag or call on this one? Looks original and pretty solid from crummy cell phone pics.

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
It has been for sale for well over a month. Wonder what is wrong with it?

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
The problem is the ad--and likely the seller. No price is a flag....

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
That's a pretty interesting looking find.
I would always ask what his asking price is to get started....that's job 1. I'm always attracted to trucks that look original for the better part...and that one at a distance appears to be apart from the engine mods listed. Sometimes under marketed vehicles are really great finds because so many people walk away from them....ya' never know. Likes: the gun rack, hubcaps, original wheels, paint condition, option level, minimal body damage dislikes: the spot of front fender rust, the engine mods Important (to me): At a glance, it looks like the owner has a nice, clean, well maintained home.....I always take that into account when looking at a vehicle. If the guys house and yard is a mess you can bet he probably didn't maintain his vehicles either. All Good Coley

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
Maybe that's the East Texas way of selling vehicles, to just ask you for an offer. Here in California we get a lot of the "just testing the waters" garbage which is code for I know what it's worth but I want to find a sucker who'll pay more than that. From what can be seen in the pics it's an average longbed with surprisingly nice original hubcaps! Hopefully it goes for a fair price to a board member who'll start up a build thread

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
I think the testing the waters thing is also something for those that want to yap about their vehicle but don't really want to sell. As Tuco said--When you have to shoot, shoot! Don't talk.... so many talkers out there.....especially some of the kids. I always tell them to show up with cash and show it to me before looking at the vehicle. If they don't or won't then you won't be wasting my time that's for sure. I'm beyond having time to spend with the tire kickers anymore.....

Gee I hope people are not that dumb, but due to the existence of these practices it makes you wonder if it works. Not on me LOL. Heck I went to a chevy dealership to try to buy a new pickup (ended up buying it at another dealer) and asked the selling price and they refused to give it to me unless I told them how much I wanted my payment to be. Cost them a sale. Yes, "they" actually do think we are that dumb. |

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
I called the guy to figure out what is up with it. The phone number is one digit off, it is a 832 number for starters. He said that it is a pretty solid truck but it does have rust in the usual places. He sent me a walk around video of the truck. He is wanting $4,000 for it in case anyone is interested in the Houston area.

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
There is a price of $4500 at the top of the ad. Could be a good $ or not.

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
I grew up on the gulf coast of Texas. They usually rust from the inside out. I would be sure to check it over real good. "Rust in ALL of the usual places" could make a $4500 truck into a $14500 truck after repairs.

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
I guess there are exceptions to everything, though. About 10 yrs ago my brother bought a 71 cheyenne super c10 in this same color combo for $4500. It had original paint that was a little thin, but NO RUST ANYWHERE. Heres the kicker; it came from Port Lavaca Tx! The original owner bought it there new and his son sold it to my brother when he passed. It needed tires and shocks, the headlights didnt work (corroded fuse holders) and the front bumper was bent, but it had all four original hub caps, was a big block 400, tilt and tach, factory cruise control and dealer installed air shocks compressor and controller.

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
The truck was a lwb as well and had the bedside tool box. The seller said that the truck never spent a night outside. My brother used to move his tools and air compressor to virginia then sold it on ebay for $15k, i believe it was.

Re: CL - H Town (not mine)
I went and looked at it a couple of weeks ago when I was working in Houston. Serious rust on the roof/drip lip rusted through in places. Rocker panels too. Sure was a pretty truck in its day but way too much work for me.
