Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I done my first air ride drop this weekend and need some feed back on the front bag install. The bag seems to touch lower arm during 1/3 of its travel to top. I will describe components install and ask weather or not a plate would be better for lower arm
dom 2600 bags suiside doors cups and top plate 3/8 cut off the cups Southern kentucky classics 2 1/2 drop spindal's This combo lowered top of wheelwell from 32 and 3/8 down to 24" this seems perfect tire clears fender when droped to 24" bottom turned and stright. But bag sags over cup's top plate and touchs lower arm with 3" between drop travel how much bump block should i add to protect bag? I feel a lower plate better surface for bag to rest on because bag acually rolles over top of cup when lowered. any opions?

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I planed to build a thread on my build but limited income would make it a long on going thing as i see some are. so look forward to seeing mine
I wanted to call it " Hotwheels" IM a 50 yearold disabled man and not as effecent as i was in earlyer years but i have determination. I belive in setting Goals and this project is mine. I been saving over the past 3 years for parts to put it together up to 10k and it doesent look it now. mostly needs body work to finish out the glass work I have started anyway thanks for the info and watch for the build thread!

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I made my bag hats. you can buy the plate with the holes predrilled and the nut already welded on from air ride.
http://www.ridetech.com/shop/index.p...roduct_id=5719 then you can get some 4"-5" steel pipe, cut the opening, and weld them. I also welded threaded rod in the nut. Any local metal fab shop can easily make these in less than an hour. i never found any complete hats for sale when i was looking. The only draw back to using the bag hats is the low PSI it takes to get your truck to ride height. You will want to also add drop blocks equal to the height of the bag hat. mine were 1.5". this will allow you to run more psi in the bags and give you a better ride. you can also make your own drop blocks or order them. Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
you can always make up a set of LCA with a cup it will make your 3" # be 0"....( check my build for pics of them)
my fender lip is 25" off the ground on a stock 29" tall tire ( yours is now 24" but it looks like you may have drop spindles and short tires)...the cupped LCA will drop your truck to lay front X if your spindles are 2" drop....and will make your truck ride better/lower because the air bag will be more in the middle..alos check my build for a shock # that may save you a few $$ Also if you have the sway bar for it be careful it will hit the bag so you will need to trim it off alittle godd look'n build sofar..hope this helps..

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I'm going to run the LCA plate on my 68. I believe you can get them through Suicide Doors and there was a board member who was selling them as well, roughly a year ago. You might try a search to find him. I can't wait to see your build thread and keep up the good work!

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I installed 2 1/2 drop splindels with 2600 dom bag and i did cut the cups down 3/8" but im finding it requires 80 psi to achive the ride height im after but i can't feel any bounce when i try to bounce front end seems like it would create a hard ride. Lower psi to 50 and it has movement but tire is to close to drive this way.
the travel of bag seems to dictate how hard a ride??? I think cutting the cup 3/8 required more air to achive height at cost of ride quality. but it did drop more My goal was to lower as much as i can when parked not nesasarly to ground and still raise to nice stance with soft ride. Where did i go wrong? or you simply can't have both worlds?

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I have asked that question 1000 time glad you got your lbs of air
my truck ( I just looked) runs 60lbs in front and 35 in the rear at ride height..and the ride seems good there I wounder how much that will change when I add the BB and th425?? my truck has stock LCA with a 3" cup and plated

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I bought bag plates from eBay, and I'm guessing they are Jlaird's plates.
Question - with bags completely aired out on plates, will the front suspension sit just as low as using cups up front? I'm worried plates won't give you as much drop up front as cups in the LCA's. |

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
I would say No ...cupps that fit your spring pocket will probally be about the same but if your looking to get low then you can cut 1" off the cups and it will be lower

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
the only problem with those plates is you cant adjust them like cups. if your cups sit up to high, then you can chop them down some. but those plates look like they are about the same as cut down cups.

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
Plates won't allow you to get 'as low' because you can trim cups to fit your particular needs. That being said, trimming the cups can cause interference w/the bag (much like what the OP is experiencing). The plates eliminate the concern of the bag making contact @ the sacrifice of some drop.

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
It's around 1/4" difference....maybe a 1/2 but then you'd really be pushing it with the bag touching the control arm....
The plates are 1/4" thick....take out that 1/4" and the bag is touching the lower A-arm if you look at the drawing...

Re: Lower arm bag cup v/ plates
If you want as much drop as possible then cup your LCAs like this, add some drop spindles and remove your inner fender wells. And enjoy.
Have a good week,
