Re: GMC 4000...? or 5000 series....Pictures...it's about time...

Back to what factorystock said about the " Slippery/Dry " Road selector..
It sure is what he said.....
At first I mistakenly thought it worked with the rear diff.....but no...
I had seen where the airlines from the switch dissappeared into the maze of airlines on the firewall....an then gave up and moved on..

Today....driving on a real wet, oily stretch of frontage rd near a Flying J.....
Did a couple panic stops ...with and without the selector engaged...
It seemed really effective....like a 60/40 valve on a tractor.

Kinda like early ABS...

Thanks for straightenin me out on that.

5.75 hi range with a direct 1:1 5th gear and 9.00x 20's (I assume) which are about 39.2 inches in diameter and 3000 rpms is right at 60 mph. now if you were to run 10.00 x 20 at the same rpm would get you 62.75 mph

now to cruise at 65mph with 900x20's 5.75 hi range in 5th (direct) you would have to hold 3200 rpm.

The big red button is the 4-Way Flashers.

hmmm ok but that seems strange since it had the big rig type turn signal that you pulled out for 4ways.

The "Red Button" is the Factory one. The Turn Signal that you have described sounds like an aftermarket one and the built-in 4-Way probably just came along with it.
