Need info on full custom frame for 47-55 Chevy
Hey all,
I am helping a friend with a 54 Chevy custom. It's super exciting because my friend can afford to do all the things I wish I could do to mine! The plan was to do an IFS kit but after removing the bed from the frame it has some fairly extensive rust damage. I brought up the idea of looking for a full custom frame and he was interested in going that route. I haven't done a bunch of research on these years and don't even know what all is out there. My truck is a little newer and I couldn't afford to go that route regardless. Does anyone have any personal experience? Any thing they would rule out or recommend? Porterbuilt may be an option? You still on here buddy?

I like the Art Morrison too. Mike is building an AD truck with one. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=627026
Fatman has a frame too...http://www.fatmanfabrications.co/pro...truck-chassis/ Progressive Automotive....http://www.progressiveautomotive.com...short-bed.html I seriously considered buying his frame after a visit there. I bought my frame from...http://www.tricktrucknrod.com/hh/Home.action He updated an original frame with all the usual IFS and 4 link stuff. |

Re: Need info on full custom frame for 47-55 Chevy
other than the price of a roller frame, you get all the goodies in one whack
4 wheel disks, rearend of choice; gear and posi, frame mount mc and ifs you can even buy them with brake lines installed a little rich for my budget, but you start a mile ahead in the race

Re: Need info on full custom frame for 47-55 Chevy
I'd think you couldn't go far wrong with one of Morrison's chassis, one of Scott's chassis or one from Jim Meyers if the budget allowed for it. Between the three you get down to the little differences in design that You like or don't like.

Re: Need info on full custom frame for 47-55 Chevy
My friend decided on the S10 swap, we found and purchased a perfect victim last week. I will get his permission to start a build thread. I'm pretty stoked about it!
