Brake Drums

I sourced a 71 C10 rear end for my 68 build and found the brake drums to have areas milled on them that I found strange. I think that was a way to balance them? Thoughts from this esteemed panel?

Balance cuts, I figured as much also. I'll be replacing them as the cooling fins are about rusted off.
