Evaporator box repair help

Does anyone reproduce the flat metal piece that goes inside the
evaporator box. I am talking about the big sheet metal piece that
goes across the back of the fiberglass between the box and the firewall.
Or does anyone know where I can get a good used one? My box is good just this metal piece is rusted at the bottom.
Thanks

Re: Evaporator box repair help

Nobody that I know of. I have a pretty nice housing here. It has 1 small hole that would be easy to fix. The back metal plate has just some surface rust for $50.00 plus shipping. WES

Its part of the factory box. You can see in this pic where mine rusted out. I could have patched mine up w/ sheet metal and sealer but might as well do it right with this E-Bay piece.
Thanks everyone.

Re: Evaporator box repair help

It should have been part of the complete housing if you converted to factory A/C. They are commonly rusted out as happened to RenoKeene's part. They are rivetted to the housings. WES

Oh I see. I do have that piece. I thought it was something separate from the housing. Thanks for the replies.

I took the part that the fan mounts to from a non air heater box and joined the good remaining portion of the air box together, made one from two.painted it black and no one will ever see it.
Hope that inspires you!
Ben

P.S. i can take a few pics later to show what i did.

Re: Evaporator box repair help

The metal is rusted around the rim, like on Renokeene's in the picture. My box also has a broken ear, so I might be interested in the whole outer box if the metal is in good shape.

I'll send you pictures of the housing I have, and you can see the condition it's in, I'm kind of on the fence on wether or not to go vintage air, or use the factory stuff, I have most everything needed to install it, except some of the liquid line hoses. I'll send pictures later.
