Cleaning up the engine bay

Can i remove this? Not sure what it does maybe smog equipment. Is there a cover i can put in its place?

egr valve and yes they make block plates for it you can either buy on make your own. My 84 had it blocked off looked factory.

Do i drill and tap 1/4 20 holes or use the single bolt hole from the existing mount ?
