unless the ground for those lights is being backfed through one of the other circuits such as the brake wire. chased this a hundred times on non-working old GM cruise controls, where by design it gets its operating ground through the ground of the taillights (thats why it turned off when you tapped the brake, no complicated system there). holds enough current capability to turn on a parking light or flasher and goes away when the brake is used.

Re: Can somebody please help me with a electrical fault?
Gents,
Quick report back in between chorus of Happy Birthday and cake.... Got an hour earlier in the day, used Larry's trouble shooting guide and, yes, it is a fault at the switch. There is no feed to the green wire as predicted. Is there anyway to fix this or is it a call to Rock Auto again? P. |

Re: Can somebody please help me with a electrical fault?
nice work!
I see rockauto sells the entire turn signal switch, I had no idea! I usually get my parts from bowtiebits because they are local, but I dont know if they ship to the UK. they make a turn signal contact and cam repair kit for the 60-62 trucks but I think complete replacement is the only solution for 63-66.

Hi Paul are you planing on keeping the lights in the American style ,or are you going to wire them up to the UK regs . If so Rian's truck uses the back up lights as a turn signal with yellow bulbs . Mine had mini (car) lamps under the rear lights .I have purchased a set of back up lights to replace them, as they looked terrible

Re: Can somebody please help me with a electrical fault?
Hi Martin,
I am going to keep the lights as American spec and utilise yellow bulbs in my reversing lights if 'required'. 1965 is ok with red turn signals so I will see how I get on... P . |
