blower motor replace

I have a 1986 GMC sierra classic with the 6.2 diesel. I'm needing to replace the heater/ac blower. I know it's covered with the extra sound insulation panels. The previous owner blew the diesel, and changed it to a 350. my question is. I have 2 options. 1) use my dremel to cut an access hole in this cover to get access to the blower. or 2) remove the cover entirely. If I remover it entirely, is there an original heater/ac housing underneath the cover where I could just leave it off permently. I've been looking at removing the one on the firewall behind the motor because it's crowding the HEI distributer.

Re: blower motor replace

Thanks to Keith seymore, I got my answer. It is ok to leave it off, there is a cover under it. Thanks again Keith.
