what emissions equipment should be on my truck??

Just as the title says:

what emissions equipment should be on my truck??
its a 1978 c10 short bed step side with a 250 inline 6.

I know most of you do not care about emissions on your truck but in my part of Pennsylvina i need everything that came on the truck from the factory on it to pass the visual inspection.

Thanks for the help

Mike

What is this 250 6 that you speak of?

HAha

Well that's a hard call. Some models had different ratings. A Cali destined truck had far more emmisions the the rest. My 79 350 Blazer had EVAP, CAT, EGR, Thermac, PCV and restrictor neck in the fill tube for Unleaded only.

My 75 has a PCV and Thermac. No problems passing when I still had to smog that truck. Internett buddy in Cali with same model truck made in 74 had to have EGR, Thermac, cross over heat riser flap, PVC, and I think EVAP But I don't think he had to have a cat.

I know some trucks had AIr pumps.

Is the Emissions sticker still on the core suport? That would be the best start as to what it had.

I would say at the very least your going to need EVAP, EGR, PVC,THERMAC air cleaner and CAT. Look at the exhaust manifold if you know it's original and see if it has a place for AIR. Now just because it has them it may not have been equiped with it. They may have had plugs. That sticker if present will show the control Vac lines if it had it.

The stations have a book that list what is supposed to be on that vehicle, there is also a number you can call for info 1-800-265-0921. Since the state no longer inspects/controls inspection stations, it¡¦s been farmed out to a private company, things are an even bigger mess.

From the DEP Web site:
Visual Check
What is a Visual Anti-Tampering Check?
The Visual Anti-Tampering Check is a visual inspection for the presence of emission control components that were installed on your vehicle by the manufacturer.
How is a Visual Anti-Tampering Check performed?
A certified technician will look for the presence of the following emission control devices:
„h Catalytic converter
„h Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve
„h Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve
„h Fuel inlet restrictor
„h Air pump
„h Evaporative control system components such as vapor canisters and lines.
The certified technician will also determine if these devices are properly connected and if they are the correct type for the vehicle being inspected.
vehicles driven under 5000 miles annually may qualify for an exemption sticker.
