Help! Steering box

Hi - I got a new cardone 27-7501 steering box to replace my worn one. The part on top with the splines is slightly larger on the new one and it doesn't fit . Any suggestions ?

Re: Help! Steering box

Hello, taking it to a milling machine shop, or buying also the rod of the stering that connects that part to the steering column?

Re: Help! Steering box

I think I was wrong about my steering box being from 1975c10
Thru some research I found a very similar box from a 70s blazer that has 25 splines on the input shaft .. Or I can get my box rebuilt for about $125 . I thought I needed the 27-7501 but the 27-7512 may be what I need

Re: Help! Steering box

How much you paid for the steering box? Does 125 rebuild account to a lot?

Re: Help! Steering box

The new rebuilt one was $130, so it's about the same

I would take it back. I wasted a ton of time with aftermarket boxes and all were junk. wrong Tbars, not centered etc. I finally broke down and ordered a box from PSC Motorsports with a .180 Tbar and my truck drives like new. Beautiful to steer.

New = China most of the time. YWIW A1 has more failures with their new half shaft than their rebuilds.

Re: Help! Steering box

I returned the 7501 box . With some research I figured out that I need the 27-7512 box that has 25 splines on the input . It's a rebuilt part I'm getting , not a new one from China .
